Finding Inspiration

by anngail@empire

While keeping an open mind and my eyes peeled for my next muse, I was blown away by our upcoming @EmpireInTheAir Spring 2018 collection dropping hella soon–Monday, February 12th. We’ve already previewed a few color palettes. I couldn’t contain my excitement so I whipped up simple and beautiful creations inspired by dat new new!

Statement making and eye catching GOLD. These are brand spankin’ new patches that were designed and curated by the product team and executed by @GrizzlyWheeler. They will be featured on new product AND sold separately. These patches are new to @EmpireInTheAir‘s artillery of accessories that can help customize your personal gear! Peep our Rocketeer X Logo enamel pins that you can add to your favorite jean jacket or backpack too.

I was instantly inspired by this logo patch and wanted to play with the infamous Fenty Beauty Killawat Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife, aka The highlighter that broke the internet along side Rihanna’s flawless execution of producing an inclusive 40 shade range foundation–I had to cop!! Both!!

Here is a fresh and highlighted look using Fenty Beauty’s Trophy Wife (3D Metallic gold) and NYX Cosmetic’s Prismatic Eyeshadow in Mermaid (Opalescent mint with gold shimmer). Its important to strategically place the product at the highest points of your face–think where the sun naturally shines on you. The tops of the cheekbones, the arch of your eyebrow, your cupids arrow on your lips, nose, and my favorite: I love a pop of shine in the inner corner of your eyelids. Never be too afraid to rock some shimmer and don’t forget to blend blend blend or a glowing complexion. (I’m more of a subtle highlight girl, but feel free to pack the pigment on to create a intense strobe effect. Examples one, two, three)

We’re droppin’ an olive green bomber jacket, folks! I’m fascinated with how versatile and wearable olive green can be on the eyes–the same idea goes with olive green outerwear to complete any fierce streetwear ‘fit.

For this sultry makeup look, I utilized Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Master Palette by Mario in Bronx (Olive green with fine gold flecks, satin finish). This was an eye shadow that I rarely touched until the Fall and Winter Seasons. As we approach Spring and Summer, I can easily see olive green being one of my go-to shadows to turn a warm brown eyeshadow day time look into a night time look!
