We #takeaknee

We transformed our “Welcome to” design to show our solidarity with #blacklivesmatter. We, at #empireintheair, strive to be an inclusive brand that is welcome to all. You are welcome here. What isn’t? Racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, or religious discrimination.

We recognize that despite the president’s boasts about “greatness,” we are far from great. We cannot claim to be great until there truly is freedom and justice for all. And, right now and for far too long, the black community have suffered from the lack of equality that our country claims to have.

#takeaknee is a protest towards the police brutality and killings against the black community. As @kaepernick7 said, “When there’s significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it’s supposed to represent, this country is representing people the way that it’s supposed to, I’ll stand.”

About the drawing: pose inspired by @traceeellisross and quote by @shondarhimes: ” By kneeling, players don’t disrespect the flag. They ask us to respect the flag. They ask us to make the anthem true for all of us.”
